I've been sitting in the Mac Store Chatswood for the past hour and I've had my problems figured out with 2 replacements.
Initially I just came in to find out what was wrong with my Macbook's battery, which they replaced with no hassle, despite it only being a minor problem. 2nd battery replacement within 2yrs - even out of warranty. i *heart* Mac.
Then I've been having some issues with my scroll wheel (overly sensitive), and small issue trying to turn it on without turning on and off the Hold button once. The Genius found this to be an issue (didn't bother me much, only a minor annoyance.) And they happily replaced that too - even though I didn't even ask for it. i *heart* Mac.
To some, having these issues can be annoying - the fact that they are there. But technology will always have problems, even if they are the best of the best. But what I love about Mac is that if they find a problem - they'll fix it, or replace it without you having to kick up a fuss. My Macbook has been out of warranty for almost a year and even though they technically shouldn't have replaced it, they did. Shows how much they are willing to look after their customers.

Working Orthoptics Student
Yess.. I was officially offered the job and I officially took it up =D
They've started training me in using the instruments and I'm really really enjoying it!
Am slowly learning how to decide if they're a good candidate and thinking about different things and putting clues together.
Got to do several laser consults all by myself today, and my last patient was particularly fun to do. He was a 29yr old guy, very easy going, easy to talk to, just a pretty fun patient to work on. Most of the patients are quite serious, but he was a very light-hearted guy - always a bonus after a long day.
Everything else has been pretty good - get to go to Darlinghurst again tomorrow. Comfy shoes! Yaaay!
Then after dinner, mumsie and i are going to go shopping for comfy flats for normal clinic. (I usually come home in some form of pain from either the boot heat, or general rubbing. So that will be a relief!
Anyway - bed soon.. got to chase up stupid banks tomorrow before I head off to Darlinghurst...

Clinic (!!!)
So, I've been at clinic for 2days and I feel like my head is going to explode.
It's been exciting and there's been a huge, steep learning curve to accompany that excitement.
At first I was grumbling and whinging about being allocated to Sebban Eye Clinic, having not gotten my only preference of Vision Eye Institute Chatswood. But the night before I was sitting there thinking and praying and realised that I wasn't trusting in God, and I wanted it MY way. Coming to that realisation, I was happy to go to Sebban and thought that maybe God has something in mind for me at this place. And indeed... He did.
I rocked up to clinic and felt lost. Was hoping to have an easy 1st day - having not touched a patient in >1yr and not touched any equipment/ machines in 8months. But I was thrown in the deep end (majorly) and I felt so unbelievably inadequate. But I tried to remain confident and asked questions when I needed to.
I was given a lunch break when they remembered (it's a busy clinic and there is no set time for lunch) and decided as I was sitting in the tea room by myself, that I'd pick up a brochure and just read. Next thing I knew, Dr Sebban walks in and starts talking to me. Apparently the other orthoptists (all really love girls) were happy with how I was going and that I was eager to learn. Next thing I know - he's asked me if I'd like to start working part time before I finished uni, because he's looking for someone to replace one of the girls who is leaving - but needs someone who is willing to learn continuously about the different treatments, works well with the patients etc. It was all kind of a shock to me - so I just replied (quite casually) that that would be excellent.
I was amazed.. and a tad shocked, and yet pleased as well. But very thankful.
Next day - I though I'd be able to just have my own patients today, feeling more confident about dealing with patients. But Dr Sebban decided that I'd follow him around the entire day and learn directly from him. And I did learn ALOT. Hence brain about to explode. My feet killed by the end of the day and I was hungry (they forgot about my lunch again until the head nurse remembered and saved me and the other student. He had me running little odd jobs for him (doing some tests in the next room.)
Cool thing as well because when I went to Samoa, there were 2 main conditions that I saw - Cataracts and Pterygia. When I found out that he did a thesis on pterygia (and also specialises in cataracts and refractive/ laser surgery) - ofcourse I had to mention that when I went over, those were the 2 main conditions I saw - and he was quite interested in the mission, asking who orgnaised it etc. =D
He also found out (by sheer accident when I was talking to a patient) that I wore contact lenses and said that he'd have to do laser on me one day *yess*.
But as I was traveling home (after a massively long day - only got out of there around 6pm) I came to the realisation that I'm going to need a car. There is no way that I'd be able to get to bible study or youth group on time if I had to travel back to Chatty by bus and then train it to Penno when the times are so irregular. Will have to see how it all pans out =)
So I'm ecstatic about the job offer - will have to chase Dr Sebban up about that again. I'm only in that clinic for another 9days, so will have to be very good and leave an impression.
